Pushing the Frontier of Mass Drone Swarm Behaviour with BAE Systems
With BAE Systems, we have pushed forward the frontier of mass drone swarm behaviour. Stanhope AI’s recent trial success was featured in the latest ‘Innovators Report’ from the UK defence company.
*Mastering mass: bio-inspired drone swarms*
BAE Systems combined algorithms inspired by the natural world with Stanhope’s physical AI capabilities to enable reasoning within an autonomous, intelligent swarm.
Based on the neuroscientific principles of ‘Active Inference’, drones equipped with our software predict what they expect to sense, then act to minimise the difference from what they observe in the real world. BAE Systems' report explains that its uncrewed aircraft became “naturally curious” - learning from their surroundings and exploring ways to reach a shared goal.
The collaboration also helped to further inform the safe and controlled operation of uncrewed air systems and drone technologies.
