Case Studies

Partnership with SPRIN-D

Working with Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation, we are testing the thinking capability of machines to deal with unforeseen environments and challenges that may hamper classic autonomous systems.

Our year-long program of work will test delivery drones in a range of scenarios and explore where other AIs fail or are thwarted by a lack of training data – e.g. in remote or inhospitable environments.

A Next-Generation Machine Learning Demonstration

In partnership with the Royal Navy we completed a demonstration of Active Inference applied to autonomous systems - illustrating an alternative form of artificial intelligence distinct from deep learning and deep reinforcement learning.

Specifically, we showed how an autonomous agent could use a generative model of the environment to navigate an unknown space and use highly limited data to complete a mission.
