Role Overview

As an AI Developer, you will design and implement probabilistic inference and control architectures for robotic platforms based on principles of active inference and embodied cognition.

You’ll work closely with researchers, roboticists, and embedded systems engineers to develop intelligent, adaptive behaviours for unmanned ground, air, and marine systems.

As a specialist programmer, you will have the opportunity to work on ground-breaking projects and collaborate with world-class experts in the emerging Active Inference AI field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement active inference algorithms for decision-making, navigation, and control.

  • Integrate AI models with real-time robotic platforms, focusing on sensor fusion, planning, and adaptive control.

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimise algorithms for embedded and edge computing architectures.

  • Analyse data from robotic systems to refine models and improve robustness under uncertainty.

  • Contribute to system architecture and help define the long-term AI strategy for the company.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Computational Neuroscience, or related field.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, C++, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

  • Experience with probabilistic modelling, Bayesian inference, or reinforcement learning.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with active inference frameworks, free-energy principle, or predictive processing models.

  • Experience with multi-agent systems, SLAM, or adaptive path planning.

  • Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop testing and real-time systems.

  • Prior work in autonomous vehicles, drones, or robotic perception.

  • Understanding of robotics middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS2) and simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity ML-Agents).

  • Strong grasp of control theory, dynamics, and sensor fusion (e.g., Kalman/particle filters).

  • Experience deploying algorithms on embedded systems or real robotic platforms.

We are committed to diversity in tech and encourage applications from under-represented groups.

We are a deeptech startup at the frontier of robotics, active inference, and autonomous systems, developing next-generation unmanned platforms capable of adaptive, goal-directed behaviour in dynamic environments. Our team combines expertise in AI, neuroscience-inspired computation, control theory, and embodied intelligence to push the boundaries of autonomy.
